The Best of Both Worlds

Getting married and going on vacation are two of the most celebrated and enjoyable moments in one's life.  Matt and Amy decided to forgo the expense and tradition of a regular wedding and combine their wedding with a Caribbean getaway.  Amy said "We decided to do a destination wedding because it was more budget friendly, and we wanted it to be fun and different from a traditional wedding. We figured it could be our wedding and a vacation all in one."

The Proposal!

Some proposals are better than others, and Matt definitely raised the bar on his proposal to Amy.  Matt presented Amy with a custom made pair of Nike running shoes on June 6, 2012 that popped the question to her embroidered on the the shoe's tongues.  So romantic!  Amy was totally surprised!!!

Pulling it All Together

A friend referred us to Tami, the destination wedding designer, from Paradise Getaways, and we used her services to help book our wedding. She helped narrow down which destination and resort we wanted to travel to, and once we decided, she helped with all the room bookings for us, and our guests. Tami helped us choose the Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. She helped link me to the wedding department and romance teams, and was always hands-on every step of the way, even if it didn’t require her services.

Chill Out and Chic

We chose the Chill Out Chic theme and décor. It was a nice, romantic, simple, but chic theme. It included hair and makeup for the bride, ceremony décor, cocktail hour and buffet style dinner for the reception. It was very lovely.

The Ceremony

Beautiful and Sunny Just in Time

When ever you have a destination wedding in the Caribbean, there can always be a chance of rain. Amy said "the highlight was that we were able to still have the ceremony outside in the garden area. It had rained earlier in the day and we were worried we would have to move the location. Luckily it only rained for a little bit, and then it was beautiful and sunny, just in time for our ceremony. We had a symbolic ceremony, which was short and sweet. Everything turned out very nice."

Let The Celebration Begin!

Matt and Amy's group pictures on the beach are not only beautiful, with the stunning beach and blue water, but also embody everything that makes them the fun and loving couple they truly are.

The Reception: A Slow Start Gives Way to A Night Full of Fun

Right before our reception, the resort suffered a power outage for about an hour and a half. So there was a period of time where everyone was at a bit of a standstill, however, the whole staff made our guests and us feel so comfortable through it. They were continuously walking around handing out hors d’ oeuvres and getting everyone drinks that whole time. We literally felt like it was simply an extension of our cocktail hour.  The whole wedding team and staff were great and really made us feel good about everything, and we had our full 3 hour reception!

I want to congratulate Matt and Amy again, on their awesome wedding in Paradise, and wish them all the best and God's blessing on their marriage!
